The first run of the Vagabond Writers Collective workshop. Ten to fifteen writers, chosen by interview, meeting once a week over three months on serious drafts of serious work.
Join a cohort →Submit your pieces, read your cohort’s work, leave edits
Every cohort member uploads their draft the week before their session. You read everyone’s work in advance. The room shows up prepared.
Every session has structure
Much like an MFA class, you’ll have a lecture on the topic at hand or whatever your cohort is working through. There will be an open discussion on the topic. Then a few writers’ pieces will get workshopped in class. Session length can flex depending on the week.
The room is curated
Critique follows specific rules so writers get real, actionable feedback. The room names what your piece is trying to do, asks questions you haven’t asked yourself, and proposes what could go where something isn’t working. No niceties. No destruction without something to replace it.
Revise into a new draft for the next week
Between workshops, you do the actual revision. Your work is workshopped at least twice over the three months. By the end, the second draft is the one that lands. A piece worth sending out into the world.
The first cohort. Ten to fifteen writers, at similar levels, over three months, on one question.
Write for Your Life is the question. What do you actually want to be writing, and why? The cohort moves through it together. Generative exercises, structural revision, close response. You leave with drafts that matter.
Every candidate is interviewed first. Not to gatekeep. To make sure the room is at a similar level of craft and wanting. That’s when cohorts work.

I’m a writer based in Los Angeles and the founder of Vagabond Writers Collective. I built it because it’s the kind of room I was missing in my own practice: focused, honest, supportive, and competitively priced.
I got my degree at the Jack Kerouac School at Naropa University, have been published, and after years of failed attempts, finally found a process for writing the first draft of a novel. Write for Your Lifeis the culmination of that work. It’s built for anyone looking to step into a writer’s life and start working on what they actually want to be working on.
If you want the longer version of how I got here and how VWC came to be, find it on the blog.
If this sounds like your room, write in to join. We’ll reach out to set up a quick interview.
