Get notifiedMost character advice is about surface. Physical description, quirks, backstory. This course goes deeper. What does your character want? What are they afraid of? How does that drive every decision they make? You will leave with a working map of your main characters and the tools to use it on the next book and the one after that. Four weeks of psychology, scene work, and a final workshop round on a scene that puts your character under pressure.
Week 1: Want and fear. The two forces that drive all character behavior.
Week 2: Backstory and what to do with it. The iceberg, the wound, the formative event.
Week 3: Character in scene. How psychology shows up in action, dialogue, and choice.
Week 4: Workshop. Each writer submits a scene that tests their main character.
